So, whatever changed in 2004 introduced stuttering in older WinTV tuner drivers. Live TV now WORKS FINE with no stuttering. Now, WinTV v8 runs and can find TV channels on a scan of the channels.

I then install the drivers from wintv-hvr-930c_driver_5_2020_0406_38260.exe and reboot. WinTV v8 runs and finds 0/NO tv channels on a scan of the channels. WinTV v8 is then installed WITHOUT updating the drivers. INTERESTINGLY, WITHOUT installing anything else, the WinTV HVR-950 shows up in device manager as a WinTV HVR-980 WITH 5.2020.406.38260 drivers auto-installed. NATURALLY WinTV sees 0/no tv channels on a setup scan because this is a known bug reported and fixed in the insider thread on this issue in the 21354 version. Naturally, no issues with older 1909 and older, so MS likely messed up something in the newer versions of Windows. I plug in the WinTV HVR 950 into the usb port and INSTANTLY, I power on the laptop, login, and am at the desktop with nothing running.ĩ. I unplug the WinTV HVR 950 from the laptop (just as I'd do if packing up the laptop to go somewhere).Ĩ. It runs fine with No Audio/Video sync issues.ħ. I reboot and launch WinTV8 (also tested 7). I then mount the WinTV7 CD, and run the latest WinTV8 installer wintv8setup_35167.exe (I've also tried wintv7_cd_3.9g.exe with the same results).

I bring up the driver install log and it installs successfully.ģ. I run hwclear to erase all traces of Wintv. However, like I posted in the Insider Thread above,ġ. In short, installing wintv-hvr-930c_driver_5_2020_0406_38260.exe for the drivers, then wintv8setup_35167.exe the latest wintv v8 program (without updating the drivers) allows WinTV to run without A/V stuttering.
